This red or some say purple beauty resembles a flowering rose with a soft texture, and sweet, mild taste. Eating the rainbow is easy with lettuce that is so visibly and tastefully pleasing. Butterhead of any variety is good in a salad, on sandwiches, or make it the star by creating a lettuce wrap.
Butterhead lettuces last for an extended period in the refrigerator if the entire head with roots is harvested. By simply keeping the roots damp and pulling leaves as you need them this lettuce will stay in the fridge for 2-4 weeks.
Lettuce is hardy and can be planted as early as the soil can be worked. It is a cool weather crop and grows best at temperatures of 60–65°F (16-18°C) which makes it a good choice for aeroponic growing. Should be sown every 3 weeks for a continuous supply of fresh lettuce.
Skip the bread or tortillas and use butterhead lettuce to make a wrap.
